They say whatever you’re looking for, you will find here.
They say you come to Vietnam
and you understand a lot in a few minutes,
but the rest has got to be lived.
The smell: that’s the first thing that hits you,
promising everything in exchange for your soul.
And the heat. Your shirt is straightaway a rag.
You can hardly remember your name,
or what you came to escape from.
-Graham Greene
I was not prepared for Vietnam. I'd never even thought about traveling there. My childhood is littered with memories of the end of the fighting there and family members returning home, forever changed by what they witnessed. So when I met Roy, his travels back and forth to this mysterious place for work was a completely foreign concept. Needless to say, Vietnam, and Saigon in particpular, holds poignant memories for me because Roy's life ended there but I know he would want me to share this amazing place he loved so much and our favorite things to see and do!
