the best laid plans…
Sometimes things just don't work out the way we plan. That has just happened to me so I wanted to share and explain my change in plans. I'll make it quick, I promise!
I may have already mentioned in previous posts that I'm headed to Yellowstone in just a few weeks. Barring something unexpected or earth shattering, those plans are still solid -- booked and ready to go. However, I had also planned to go to Paris in the fall and these plans are changing.
Why are they changing? I'm starting a new job! I'm very excited about my new position but that does mean my plans for Paris need to be altered. Why am I telling you this? Because I want to stress the value of remaining flexible. (See? I'm a living example of exactly what I preached about just a couple of articles ago!) In fact, I've already made other plans, albeit closer to home. Am I disappointed? In a way. I was gearing up for a full Paris plan as soon as I returned from Yellowstone. This doesn't mean I won't make it to the City of Light in the near future and my plans and list of items I want to see will still be a valuable resource. Seriously, the Eiffel Tower isn't going anywhere. I'm glad I plan travel the way I do. I like having my trusty spreadsheet to fall back on in these situations! My Paris info remains on the sheet neatly organized and all I need to do is switch gears to a different destination on the page. And I'm excited about my new travel plans which I'll share with you in an upcoming post!
All of this to say that if you have to change horses midstream, don't be discouraged. Plans get changed all the time. And if you've used my method of planning travel you already have other options to choose from. In the meantime, keep dreaming, planning, and traveling to all those must see destinations on your list.
